Wheel refinishing is a time-honoured process that breathes life into lackluster rims—but it shouldn’t be done willy-nilly. No, wheel refinishing is a task best left to the pros because when it comes to your wheels, there is nothing more important than safety.
How does one have your wheels refinished safely? With quality assurance—that’s how!
Wheel Refinishing: Safety and Quality Assurance
Here at Carcone’s safety is our top priority, which is why we tell our customers that while almost every wheel can be refinished—not all of them should be. Wheels age and fade over time. Their metals begin to weaken and their pieces begin become compromised.
It is this damage and erosion over time that serves as the reason that we put our refinished wheels through stringent safety tests. Refinished wheels should be tested for safety with the following structural-integrity tests (after all, you’re literally putting your life and your family’s lives in their hands):
Rotary Fatigue Test
This test heavy-loads the central hub of the wheel—while the wheels are in a turning position—with an above-average stress load to ensure that the wheel can stand up to even more than the car will ever force it to bear.
Radial Fatigue Test
The radial fatigue test is the same test as the rotary fatigue, but this time the wheels are straight, giving the wheels a forward-motion positioning.
Impact Test
The time you need to trust your wheels the most is during and immediately after an impact—hence the importance of impact testing. This test checks the wheels’ impact and air loss at high speeds.
If your wheels wouldn’t pass those three tests we wouldn’t refinish them and we wouldn’t put them back on the road—and neither should you.
Wheel Refinishing Warranty
We’re so proud of the wheel-refinishing work that we do that we put our stamp of approval on everything that goes out the door—and back it with a 100%, one-year warranty. This includes all our work related to:
- General refinishing services
- Exact paint matching and powder-coating finishing (not a safety concern—but looks count too!)
Note: our like-new finish and wheel-refinishing warranty becomes void in the case of installation damage, third-party wheel treatment, damage due to negligence and finish damage from salts or harsh chemicals.
So, if you’re in the Aurora, Newmarket or surrounding township area—come on in to Carcone’s to put the shine back in your wheels.
